Greenville, SC – The Augusta GreenJackets (41-28) finished the first half of the season with a 7-5 loss to the Greenville Drive (40-30) on Sunday. Angel Villalona homered and drove in three runs while Daryl Maday worked seven innings for a third straight start for the no-decision.

Augusta took a 3-2 lead into the eighth inning but the Drive plated five runs as Augusta used three different pitchers to take a 7-2 lead. Andrew De La Garza (5-1) suffered the loss allowing four runs on three hits including a three run homer to Ty Weeden that capped off the scoring.

Orlando Yntema began the inning retiring the first out but then walked a batter. De La Garza came in and got the second out but then allowed a single, hit a batter and David Mailman came through a two-run double for a 4-3 lead. Weeden followed with his seventh homer of the season. Villalona had a two-run homer in the ninth inning to pull Augusta to within 7-5 but that was as close as Augusta would get.

The GreenJackets took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI sac-fly to center from Eliezer Alfonzo and a fielder’s choice from Brock Bond.
The Drive tied it at 2-2 in the bottom of the first inning on back-to-back RBI doubles from Ryan Kalish and Mike Jones.
