COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) -- Augusta State University golfer Mitch
Kryulycz took advantage of near-ideal conditions and shot
6-under-par 65 for a one-shot lead in the Southeastern Amateur
after the first round.

Kryulycz's only bogey on the Columbus Country Club course
Thursday came at the par-4 15th, when he hit a bunker. Former University of Michigan golfer Tim Schaetzel is one shot behind at 5-under-par 66. Bill Allcorn of Abilene, Texas, and Carter Newman of Evans were tied for third at 67 in the 72-hole tournament, which concludes on Sunday.
