A Georgia football player was arrested overnight for carrying a concealed weapon.
Defensive end Jeremy Lomax was arrested in Athens for speeding. When officers searched the car they found an unloaded handgun under a seat. They also found a loaded magazine. Lomas told them he did not have a permit for the weapon.
Lomax, number 55 on defense, played in most of the Bulldog games last year and is expected to compete for a starting spot this season.
He is already out of jail on bond, and Coach Mark Richt is aware of the arrest.
Lomax is from Jonesboro, Georgia.
