ATHENS, Ga. (AP) -- Gordon Beckham's three-run homer helped
Georgia rally from a three-run deficit with seven runs in the
seventh, and the Bulldogs beat Louisville 9-8 on Saturday to
eliminate the Cardinals from the NCAA tournament.
Georgia, upset by Lipscomb on Friday night, trailed 5-2 through
six innings but rallied to avoid the two-game ouster from its
regional. The Bulldogs (36-22-1) took the lead with seven runs on
eight hits in the seventh.
Beckham set a school record with his 24th homer of the season
off Louisville closer B.J. Rosenberg to tie the game. Stewart Ijames hit a two-run homer and Jeff Arnold added another homer in the ninth off Georgia closer Joshua Fields.
