Charleston, SC – The Augusta GreenJackets (13-15) won their second straight over the Charleston RiverDogs (20-7) Thursday night with a 6-3 victory. Starter T.J. Brewer worked six plus innings for the win and Andrew Davis drove in two runs for Augusta as the GreenJackets began the month of May with a win over the first place RiverDogs.

Brewer (2-2) allowed three runs, two earned, on five hits while walking one and striking out two.

Daniel Turpen got the final two outs in the game with back-to-back strikeouts for his fourth save of the season. Turpen came into the game in the ninth with two on and one out.

The GreenJackets broke a 2-2 tie in the second inning when Jackson Williams scored on the RBI double from James Simmons for a 3-2 Augusta lead.

Augusta increased the lead to 5-2 in the third inning on a one-out RBI single from Davis and a two-out RBI single from Williams.

The GreenJackets got another run in the fourth inning on a two-out RBI single from Thomas Neal for a 6-2 lead.

Charleston got a single run in the fifth to trim the lead in half 6-3 on an RBI sac-fly from Justin Snyder but that is all they would get off of the Augusta pitching staff.

Andrew De La Garza worked 2.1 scoreless innings in relief of Brewer allowing just three hits and striking out two.

Augusta took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning with two outs in the half inning. Neal singled then Garrett Baker followed with an RBI triple and Davis had an RBI single.

The RiverDogs tied the game in the bottom half of the inning when Carmen Angelini and Justin Snyder both scored on a fielding error by Charlie Culberson.

The GreenJackets and RiverDogs finish their series on Friday night with Augusta sending lefty Craig Clark (1-0, 2.84) to the mound. Charleston counters with righty Noel Castillo (3-1, 2.51). First pitch on Friday night is at 7:05 p.m.

Game Notes:

Augusta won back-to-back games for the first time since April 13-14 in Lexington.
