MCCORMICK, SC---Aiken native, Kevin Kisner followed up his opening round 68 with a 7 under 65 Friday to grab a 1 shot lead at the half way mark of the Savannah Lakes Resort Classic in McCormick, South Carolina.
Starting on #10, Kisner did most of his damage on the front 9 posting 6 birdies on his way into the clubhouse. The former Georgia Bulldog leads Chris Erwin (Brentwood, TN) and Casey Crain (Carriere, MS) who sit at 10 under heading into the weekend.
Thursday’s leader Tyrone Mordt (Haltom City, TX) lost some ground after his opening round 65 when he posted a 1 over 73 Friday. Mordt stands tied for 16th. The low round of the day was turned in by Knoxville’s Andrew Pratt who carded a 8 under 64. Pratt opened the tournament with a 3 over 74 and moved up from T-92 to T-16.
Augusta’s Jay Mundy sits 8 under for the week, tied for 8th, while North Augusta’s Scott Brown heads into Round 3 tied for 23rd at 5 under.
Following round 2 the field was cut down to the top 60 players and ties…61 players were at 3 under or better. Round 3 will begin at 8am Saturday. The total purse for the Savannah Lakes Resort Classic is $200,000 with $33,565 going to the winner.
