Jones and Jones Go Long

Chipper Jones slugged the go-ahead two run homer in the eighth to lead the Atlanta Braves over the New York Mets 4-2 Monday. Andruw Jones also hit his major league leading 45th homer for the Braves, who improved to 49-and-20 against the Mets at Turner Field. Chipper Jones also had an rbi single in the first off Steve Trachsel, who dropped to 1-and-1. Rookie Blaine Boyer allowed Ramon Castro's tying sacrifice fly in the eighth but picked up the win and is 2-and-1. Boyer had thrown 15 and two-thirds coreless innings. Kyle Farnsworth pitched the ninth for his tenth save.
