SUMTER, S.C. (AP) -- A Canadian Football League team says that
linebacker Jamacia Jackson was found unresponsive at a South
Carolina home and pronounced dead at a hospital.
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats of Ontario said in a statement that the
26-year-old's cause of death was not immediately known. A telephone
message left with the Sumter County coroner's office was not
immediately returned Monday.
Jackson played safety and special teams for the University of
South Carolina from 2001-04. He later signed as a free agent with
the Tennessee Titans but was released during training camp.
Jackson signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in January. Coach
Charlie Taaffe said in a statement that Jackson was a beloved
player, teammate and friend.
