Tony Stewart won for the fifth time in seven races on the Nextel Cup tour Sunday. He had an alternator problem late in the race and had to shut off some systems and switch to a backup battery, but he still held on to take the checkered flag at Watkins Glen. Stewart's 24th career victory was his fifth in five years on a road course, and it gives him a 105 point lead in the season standings over Jimmie Johnson, who finished fifth. He beat the Chevy of Robby Gordon by almost two seconds. Road racing specialist Boris Said finished third, and Scott Pruett was fourth.
