COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina offensive lineman Kevin
Young was charged for his role in a fight in a nightclub area near
campus early Sunday. Columbia Police Department spokesman Brick Lewis says Young was charged with fighting, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Young was ticketed at the scene and not taken to jail, according
to Lewis. Lewis says Young had been fighting with another man who was not a football player. Lewis says officers smelled alcohol and the 20-year-old Young was slurring his words, but there were no alcohol-related charges. Young is a 6-foot-4, 320 pound redshirt freshman guard from Clearwater, Fla.

A message left with athletic department spokesman Steve Fink
about Young's status with the team was not immediately returned.
