AIKEN, S.C.--Four polls, four rankings for USC Aiken (11-3, 2-1 PBC) as the Pacers climbed five spots to 14th in the fourth in-season release of the Collegiate Baseball Magazine Division II Top 30 poll. Dating back to March 2005, the Pacers had appeared in 49 of the past 51 polls including a streak of 43-straight. It was also the fourth-straight week USCA has moved up in the poll.
Mount Olive took over the top spot this week, dethroning Tampa, the defending NCAA Division II National Champions. Ouachita Baptist inched up a notch to second followed by Tampa, Delta State, and Grand Valley State to round out the top five.
Francis Marion, Armstrong Atlantic, and Georgia College & State are seven, eight, and 11 this week while Columbus State’s ranking of 16 gives the Peach Belt Conference five teams in the top 20 for the second-straight week.
After taking a pair of mid-week games from Brevard College, the Pacers hit the road for the first time in 2008, playing at North Georgia in both teams’ Peach Belt Confernece opener. USC Aiken split the twinbill on Saturday before winning the rubber game in convincing fashion 18-10. The Pacers have won eight of their last nine.
USC Aiken will host North Greenville on Thursday, February 28 at 6:00 PM at Roberto Hernandez Stadium.
