Bowden's Tigers finish with one of country's top classes

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) -- Clemson coach Tommy Bowden says he is delighted with this year's recruiting class, which some experts call one of the best in the country.

Bowden already had signed the country's top defender in Da'Quan Bowers.

But today, blue chip tight end Dwayne Allen switched from Georgia to the Tigers and tailback Jamie Harper picked Clemson over Florida, Florida State and Miami.

The Tigers brought in 26 recruits in a class that ESPN/Scouts Inc. rated second in the country, behind only Miami.

Bowden says he is happier his staff landed six of its final seven targets the final ten days than where this class ranks nationally.
