Augusta State Sweeps Doubleheader Against Georgia Southwestern

AMERICUS, Ga. – Augusta State junior center Garret Siler scored a career-high 31 points to pace the Jaguars to a 95-88 victory at Georgia Southwestern in a Peach Belt Conference barnburner Saturday afternoon in the Storm Dome.

The victory was the seventh straight and fourth in the last 10 days for 13th-ranked ASU, which improved to 13-3 overall and 8-1 in conference play. ASU set a season high in points scored, besting its 93-point effort vs. Johnson C. Smith on Nov. 24.

Siler, who also notched a game-high eight rebounds and four blocked shots, established a new career high for points scored, clipping his previous best of 30 vs. Florida Southern on Nov. 17. Senior forward Tyrekus “AJ” Bowman tallied 20 points and eight rebounds, while senior guard Demetrius Howard had 12 points on four 3-pointers and Ben Madgen added 10.

Steve Smith added eight points and Caleb Brown and Daniel Dixon managed six each, with Dixon chipping in five assists.
Augusta State built as much as a 28-point lead Saturday afternoon and went on to claim a 75-69 Peach Belt Conference road victory over Georgia Southwestern at the Storm Dome.

With the win, the Lady Jaguars improved to 11-5 overall and 5-4 in the PBC. The loss dropped the Lady Hurricanes to 1-16 overall and kept GSW winless in the league at 0-10.

Sophomore guard Jasmine Godwin paced the Lady Jaguars with a career-high 22 points. Junior forward Tracey Paschal booked a season-high 19 points and sophomore center Porsha White added 11. Senior forward Adah Wells and White each grabbed five rebounds for ASU, which led 42-30 at the half.

The Lady Jags welcome North Georgia to Christenberry Fieldhouse on Monday, Jan. 28 for a 5:30 p.m. Peach Belt Conference matchup.
