North Augusta, SC--A big night for sports off any basketball court or football field with the north augusta sports hall of fame inducting it's newest members. Five well deserving folks having the honors Saturday night.
Among them, former NC State football coach Dick Sheridan. Sheridan has been around the coaching ranks pretty much his entire life and was national coach of the year in 1986 with Wolfpack. Then you have former Dallas Cowboy great Charlie Waters. He's in a small and elite group having played in five super bowls. Those two have never forgotten their roots.
"You know I've been inducted into South Carolina's and the Clemson hall of fame" said Charlie Waters. "I have to tell you this means more to me than those two. I was real honored to be in those two but your foundation, where you began, is the most important component in your life."
"I think a lot of the people being inducted tonight have been in other hall of fames, but I think they feel the same way I do, in your own home town, this is the most personal, this is the most important and the biggest honor as far as I'm concerned." added Dick Sheridan.
Also being enshrined this eveing, Pat Carpenter, a long time sports volunteer in the area, Craig Baynham, who also played in the NFL with the Cowboys, and Ed Stillwell, a former North Augusta football coach.
