Silver Bluff stays perfect

PETTICOAT JUNCTION, SC---There aren't too many coaches that wouldn't give their right arm for a rebuilding year like the Silver Bluff girls' basketball team is having this season. The lady Bulldogs have not only kept their playoff hopes alive but are within striking distance of a perfect season.

There's still a long way to go but anything is possible for a team that nobody outside of the locker room was expecting big things from.

Silver bluff went 13-9 a year ago but only returned four seniors. What they've found is some impact freshman and a team taylor-made for their up-tempo style. Far from feeling the pressure of the perfect record, the four seniors have managed to keep the rest of the team focused on one game at a time.

Alicia Jackson says, "Being co-captain of this team I think it's good because it keeps everybody focused and helps coach out." Adds senior Shannon Schoultz, "My first couple of years playing basketball here at Silver Bluff, not as great because we usually didn't have a winning season and to win this year just feels really great."

The lady Bulldogs are gunning for their first ever region championship and, this Friday, win number seventeen.
