COLUMBUS, Ga.--The junior duo of Chris Commons and Jeremy Fears combined for 61 points as seventh-ranked USC Aiken (13-1, 7-0 PBC) ran its perfect Peach Belt Conference record to 7-0 with a 94-84 win at Columbus State (7-9, 3-3 PBC) on Saturday evening. With their fourth-straight victory, the Pacers snap a 13-game losing streak to the Cougars dating back to 1998 and post their first win in Columbus in 15 years.

CSU had caught fire of late, winning three-straight, but the Pacers posted the win with their eighth consecutive game of 83 points or higher (fourth 90-point game).

Commons got the Pacers off to a quick start, scoring five of the team’s first 10 points to lead by six with 16:15 on the clock. Travis Matthews countered with the first of two three-pointers as the Cougars pushed in front 20-16 with 11:44 remaining as Sean Miller’s long ball capped off a 16-6 run.

On a cold, rainy afternoon in Columbus, USC Aiken junior Meredith Legg and the rest of the Lady Pacers (10-3, 4-3 PBC) heated up the Lumpkin Center for a 75-61 win over Columbus State (7-6, 3-3 PBC) in women’s Peach Belt Conference basketball. Legg tied her career-high with 23 in the first half alone on 8-of-11 three-point attempts. She finished with 28. As a team, USCA tied a school record with 14 made treys.

It was the program’s second win in the last three visits to Columbus, avenging last year’s 75-74 overtime defeat. The victory is also USCA’s 500th win all-time in 32 years of women’s basketball.
