Giants Announce 2008 Greenjackets Coaching Staff

Augusta, Ga--The Augusta Greenjackets coaching staff will have a new skipper for 2008, but a familiar face when the season starts in April. Andy Skeels has been tabbed by the San Francisco Giants to run their Single- A team. Also returning is pitching coach Ross Grimsley. Lipso Nava has been added as hitting coach.

Skeels is returning to Augsuta for a third straightg year after spending the last two years as hitting coach under former manager Roberto Kelly. With 16 teams in the South Atlantic League, Skeels guided Augusta batters to the seventh best batting average in the league.

Grimsley begins his 10th season with the Giants organization and his fourth with the Greenjackets. Grimsley's pitching staff posted the lowest ERA in all of minor league baseball in 2007.

The Greenjackets open the season Thursday April 3rd against Greensboro at Lake Olmstead Stadium.
