Evans, Ga--After a month long search, Greenbrier has hired a new football coach, his name, Brian Smith, who had been serving as the team's defesinve back coach.
Smith will take over for Scott Chadwick who had resigned this year after contraversy involving eligable players. Smith has spent two years with the program as defensive back coach and previous to that, seven seasons with North Augusta as an assistant. A tough task lies ahead for the new leader of the pack.
"Well, we're in a new region and we have to travel to Atlanta and play some tough opponents." said head coach Brian Smith. "We're looking forward to that, we think its a challenge that our guys will be ready for. More then that we're more interested in the process about where we are now and where we're going to bee in week one and week five and at the end of the season."
Only one hurdle remains, Smith needs to be approved by the Columbia County Board of Education, that's expected tuesday night.
