WAYNESBORO, Ga---Big goings on in Burke County this Saturday as one of Waynesboro's favorite sons will be honored. Former Burke County Bear and current LA Dodger, Jonathan Broxton, will be on hand as an entire complex of baseball and softball fields are renamed in his honor.
Starting saturday, the Waynesboro-Burke County Recreation Ddepartment and it's eight baseball and softball fields will forever be known as Jonathan Broxton Park. The 23-year-old was drafted by the Dodgers out of Burke County high as the 60th pick of the '02 draft and has become one of the best set-up men in the bigs with a 2.85 ERA in 83 games for the Dodgers last season.
Broxton will be on hand this Saturday in Waynesboro to sign autpgraphs and mingle with the home folks as the new Broxton Park sign is unvieled at 3pm.
