NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Freshman A.J. Ogilvy scored 25 points to
help 13th-ranked Vanderbilt open Southeastern Conference play by
beating South Carolina 80-73 tonight.
The Gamecocks kept this one close. There were eight lead changes
and four ties in the second half alone. South Carolina harassed Vanderbilt into 16 turnovers, nine of those on steals.
But the Commodores slowly pulled away, beating the Gamecocks for
the fourth straight time.
Devan Downey led South Carolina with 22 points, while Zam Fredrick added 21 points.
Shan Foster and Alex Gordon both added 13 points for the Commodores, who improved to 16-0 -- the best start in school history.
