Canady leads Lady Monarchs to victory

ATLANTA (AP) -- Sophomore Jessica Canady came off the bench to
score a career-high 21 points and lead 19th-ranked Old Dominion to
a 79-59 victory over Georgia State.

Yesterday's game was the Colonial Athletic Association opener for both teams, with ODU (10-3) lifting its record in CAA openers to 16-1. It was the fourth victory in a row for ODU and its seventh in the last eight games.

Junior Brittany Hollins led GSU (3-9) with a career-best 25 points.

ODU built a 35-24 halftime lead and broke the game open after Georgia State cut the deficit to 45-37 with 12:32 to play by going on a 12-2 run.

Sophomore Shay Rawls added 13 points and 7 rebounds for the Lady
Monarchs while the Panthers got 12 points and 8 rebounds from Shahida Williams and 10 points from Jasmine Parker.
