EVANS, Ga---Following a rough stretch that included forfeited games and the departure of the previous athletic director and football coach, the wolfpack stayed in-house, to right the ship.
Garrett Black is still in the midst of getting his new office in order but he knows the ins and outs of Greenbrier High School and Columbia Ccounty sports in general as well as anyone. Black is in his 12th year at Greenbrier as the softball coach and has also spent time coaching the boys and girl's basketball team.
Black takes over as AD for Scott Chadwick who left the school amid controversy following record keeping errors that resulted in the forfeiture of games for the use of ineligible players. For his part, Coach Black understands what the school needs now is stability at the top.
"I'm just going to do my best to try and help the coaches in all areas," says Black. " Whenever they need something, I want to be available to them to help out any way to let them coach."
Coach Black's softball team's have won the region title all 12 of his seasons as coach and one state championship.
As far as the football team goes, Black hopes to announce a new head coach sometime next month.
