EVANS, Ga---Embattled Lakeside football coach Jody Grooms will stay on as head football coach but will not regain his athletic director title. That's the decision today from Columbia County Superintendent Charles Nagle.

The first year coach has been under fire since his Lakeside team cheated in the final game of the season with a planned illegal play. The Georgia High School Association fined the school 250 dollars which has already been paid but now coach Grooms will have to reimburse.

He has also been suspended for the first two games of the 2008 season and has been given an official reprimand, meaning similar actions in the future will cost him his job.

In losing his athletic director title, Grooms not only has a reduciton in pay but will go back to the regular five class teaching workload next semester as opposed to the four classes he had been teaching.
