"Go Fish Georgia" tournaments canceled

October 26, 2007

One of Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue's million dollar initiatives is going down the drain. The drought has canceled two of his "Go Fish Georgia" tournaments at Lake Lanier.

The Professional Anglers Association says the lake's protruding islands and treetops would create a hazard to boaters.

The $19 million initiative was designed to land more fishing tournaments in the state.
