AUGUSTA---As star forward AJ Bowman recovers on the sidelines from a heart condition, the rest of the team is out to prove their number six national ranking is deserved.
The Jags, even without Bowman, return four starters to the floor and eight of their top ten scorers from last season. That's a pretty impressive stat considering they notched twenty-four wins last year and finished with a number eighteen national ranking. There's still more than two weeks until their first exhibition game and the pressure's already on. For the Jags though, thanks to head coach Dip Metress, pressure is nothing new.
Explains center Garret Siler, "As soon as last year's season was over with, he(Metress) kind of put the pressure on knowing that we were going to be one of the better teams in our conference and our region. With that we just have to know that we have to go hard every day."
Siler himself will be one of the keys this season. The 6-foot-11, 305 pound junior from Richmond Academy is one of the biggest players in the Peach Belt Conference and well on his way to becoming one of the most effective.
