CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Carolina Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme is done for the season. The veteran signal caller has decided to undergo surgery on his throwing elbow next week.
Coach John Fox says Delhomme arrived at that decision earlier today after having trouble throwing the ball.
Delhomme sustained what the team called a strained right elbow when he was sacked in Carolina's win over Atlanta on September 23rd. David Carr replaced him the last two games, when Delhomme was listed as the number 3 quarterback.
To make matters worse, Carr suffered a back injury in yesterday's victory over New Orleans and his status for this week's outing at Arizona is uncertain.
