Special Assignment: A Family's Fight for Justice, Part 1
Every 40 minutes someone in the U.S. is killed by a drunk driver, and the numbers show the majority of those drivers have driven drunk before. One family in Waynesboro knows the numbers all too well.

You cannot say that because someone continues to drink and drive they don't feel bad about an accident that took someone's life.

Really? Before you go calling someone else an idiot, learn how to spell fourth.

If .04 is "like 1/2 a beer" than 1 beer and your DUI (.08)??? Bet lots of you have driven under the influence if that's that case.

I am very sorry for the Ide's family's loss and my heart and prayers are with them. I still stand behind my family though, and hope that as many prayers that are sent up for vengeance are sent for forgiveness as well. I hope that my family remains stong and my love goes out to them and the Ide family.

to "to notsure"...didn't I read that the misdemeanor DUI was dismissed? if so, there must have been a reason

To those attacking you, I say the truth hurts. The Ide's are not after justice, they are out for revenge and Channel 12 allowed them that venue.

Ide is dead. I'm pretty sure he's not blaming anyone. .04 isn't high; isn't that like 1/2 a beer? You sound like you were there or something, but you write too well to be the idiot that got 4 dui's.... yet not intelligent enough to focus on the fact that there is a 4th dui... Are you denying there was a forth? Don't ILLEGAL drugs trump 1/2 a beer on a dirt road? obviously your feelings are too wrapped up in this to see clearly. lots of people love the Ide's and have known'em too long and well to believe they've spent every waking minute trying to catch this "good ole boy" they're just normal folks, making a living and following the law & exercising there right to question the government via the press. They have put up w. a lot of Mr. Bailey's smash talking about their daddy before they even decided to sue. If there hadn't been a 4th.... there wouldn't be a news 12 report & we'd have our noses poked in someone else's bus

to the one who posted "to IDE"... its not the fact that he was charged with the death of Mr. Ide, it's the fact that Jack was involved in THE ACCIDENT got a DUI and that still did not stop him from drinking and driving.... Oh but, it's ok, jack's "just having fun", no matter if he was involved in an accident that killed somebody!! Thats what makes him look so bad b/c that goes to show that he really does not care.. What if, on the night he got his 4th DUI, and got into a wreck and was NOT his fault, he should still feel extremely terrible b/c he had already done it one, two times before the 3rd and a death was the result of that decision, but yet a 4th one.. It;s ok Jack,, you can keep drinking and driving, we don't care because its not OUR family!! Yayy,, go Jack ... NOT!!

all of you!!!

Wow, "ide," he wasn't drinking that morning, yet his BAL was .04 at 10:30 that morning? That is surprising. I can't imagine what the level would have had to have been (if it's even possible) the night before for it to still be .04 at the time of the accident. Then, I guess the cooler of beer at that was all over the road at the scene of the accident was from the prior night as well? You know, it was a tragic thing that happened. I guess I just can't see blaming the other driver b/c of drugs in his system from 2 nights prior when the victim was CURRENTLY under the influence & FAILED TO YIELD at the stop sign. I feel that if I run a stop sign (drinking or not) and am hit by another vehicle (the driver of which is DUI or NOT), the cause of the accident is most likely that I ran the stop sign. Moreover, there is no way I'm going to blame someone else for the accident if I not only ran the stop sign, but was ALSO drinking and driving MYSELF.

Notsure, you must have missed the part where Bailey was under the influence and driving well over the speed limit....
Posted by: really on Nov 4, 2009 at 02:58 PM

notsure you did miss something. driving at 85 mph and meth and ecstacy in the other drivers system. Idiot read it all not just some
Posted by: to notsure Location: burke co on Nov 4, 2009 at 02:52 PM

yea u missed something. he had DRUGS in his system & was charged with a DUI and vehicular homicide
Posted by: Notsure on Nov 4, 2009 at 12:44 PM

"Troopers say Ide failed to yield that Saturday morning seven years ago. Although a toxicology report did show Ide had a blood alcohol level of .04, because he was not near the legal limit, the second driver, Jack Bailey, was charged in his death". I don't get. Ide failed to yield had been drinking but they arrest Bailey. Did I miss something?
