Due to the tropical storm systems forming in the Atlantic and a system headed toward the Gulf of Mexico, AAA said motorists won't see any relief at the pumps anytime in the next few weeks. According to AAA, the average price of gasoline in the state of Georgia is $2.74. That's way up from last year when it was $2.24 a gallon.
16-year-old Joseph Oller said the recent gas prices are a lot of money, so he carpools .
"When I go to school, me and my friends kind of switch off days whoever drives to school," Oller said.
While some worry about getting to school, others stress about getting to and from work.
"It's really taxing on me. I travel from Clarksville to Aiken to work so that's a 45 minute ride so I have to fill up probably twice a week," Gail Cohen said.
Cohen said she looks hard to find the cheapest gas prices on her commute.
"I try to search for the cheapest gas prices and try to drive till I get to that gas station and that's basically the only thing you can do because you need your cars for transportation," Cohen said.
Some people say the prices are unbelievable.
"Very unhappy, since I'm a traveler," Rosemary Little said.
And she travels on a regular basis, to Birmingham, Kentucky, Atlanta, and Tennesee to visit her family.
"You don't understand it and why its so fluctuating. One month its 25 cents less than it is the next month," Little said.
Some travelers say they don't understand the difference in price between the states.
"I'll leave Beafort, South Carolina and its about $2.68, I get here and its $2.60 and then when I get home in Athens, I know when I left average it was $2.75/2.79 just depends where you stop," Dorsey Perry said.
