AIKEN, S.C. --- A gallon of gas is now under a dollar.
"We haven't seen it this cheap in a long long time," Sheila Dunn said.
Sheila Dunn drove all the way from Grovetown to get gas at the Exxon in Aiken. That's right, she drove 45 miles just for gas. And the bargain couldn't come at a better time.
"A big relief because we can probably fill up this truck for $20-25," Dunn said.
That's quite a difference from the $60-70 she was paying.
Lines of cars waited patiently to fill up their tanks. And at 87 cents a gallon, drivers say the wait is worth it.
"I'm here today to get the best gas price in town which is 87 cents a gallon. You can't beat that anyway," Teresa Saxon said.
Some drivers even took pictures of the too good to be true gas prices.
"They need to keep it like this. Really do need to keep it like this," Saxon said.
"So they're loving it. They're just saying how low are you going to go? I'm like, as low as my boss wants to go. I said we're here till the end," Exxon Store Manager, Sonya Wells said.
The low prices at Exxon started on Christmas Eve and have been changing every day. Store managers say the lines of cars are holding steady ever since. And Saturday both the Exxon and Sprint stations on Pine Log Road were slammed with cars, all waiting to fill up for 87 cents a gallon.
The store manager at Exxon says they're not sure how long the low prices will go on. But for now they're steady at this price and there's a possibility it could drop even lower.
