AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Dr. Paul Cundey Jr. and his wife Katharine have donated $25,000 to University Health Care Foundation for the creation of a new endowment.
Dr. Cundey, a cardiologist who practices at University Hospital, said the endowment is designed to help educate the public about the prevention of ischemic heart disease.
“The hope is that it will be used for a teaching module that will be applicable to all areas of the community – schools, churches, industry,” Dr. Cundey said. “The message is that heart disease is a preventable, or at least a delay-able, cause of death.”
Dr. Cundey said he wants to see more events like University Health Care Foundation’s Heartfelt Affair, which on Feb. 5 raised $30,000 for women’s heart awareness.
“We want to make it more successful next year,” he said. “It’s a great marketing tool to get the word out about heart disease prevention.
