AUGUSTA, Ga.---The Richmond County School Board now has a better idea when they'll decide which schools to close, and they also are getting a new communication system.

They decided on a rightsizing timeline, which will help them decide how to best use all their facilities.

This month, they're evaluating plans, and they hope to have a drafted plan by November.

In December, they'll take action and they hope to put the rightsizing plan into action by January 2009.

The board also approved a bid for a mass communication system for all schools.

Once they get it, schools will be able to send messages to parents, like if there's a lockdown, or any other kind of event.

They hope to have that in place by January.

I SURE DO HOPE THAT A.DOROTHY HAINS ON WINDSOR SPRING ROAD WILL BE ONE OF THE SCHOOLS THAT THEY WILL BE CLOSING DOWN. MY MOM ATTENDED THAT SCHOOL 40 SOMETHING YEARS AGO AND THE WAY THE BUILDING LOOKED THEN, IS THE SAME WAY IT LOOKS NOW. THE BAD THING ABOUT THIS IS THAT SOUTHSIDE ELEMENTARY IS NOWWHERE NEAR AS OLD AS HAINS, BUT IT'S ALREADY REMODELING DONE TO IT. I WONT FORGET TO MENTION THAT HAINS DOESN'T REALLY SIT ON ALOT OF LAND, THEY HAVE SORRY PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT (THATS OUT DATED), AND THEY ARE USING AT LEAST 8 PORTABLES FOR CLASSROOMS. IF THIS IS NOT REASON ENOUGH FOR THEM TO PUT THIS SCHOOL OUT OF ITS' MISERY I DONT KNOW WHAT ELSE IS.
