HEPHZIBAH, Ga. - Keeping soap dispensers stocked and ready to use is a top priority for Hephzibah Middle School Principal Dr. Deborah Shepherd.

"In the school we have soap in the bathrooms and all around the school and of course we have sinks in each of the classrooms where we have soap available as well," said Shepherd.

With a sink in every classroom, students have ample opportunities to wash their hands and teachers make sure students have a chance to wash their hands frequently-- especially before lunch.

Shepherd says it's her secret for keeping MRSA out of her school.

MRSA can live on your skin. But washing your hands kills or dilutes the bacteria reducing your risk of getting infected.

Principal Shepherd says the schools are doing their part, but parents can help too.

"Make sure that if your child tells you something hurts you check it out. Sometimes it may be as little as a splinter but sometimes it may be far more important that you look into it."
