Augusta, GA---News 12 was first to tell you about the planned trip to Aiken by Reverend Jeremiah Wright. Reverend Wright is the recently-retired lead-pastor of a mega-church in Chicago who has ties to Barack Obama and has been making news lately. The latest talk locally...was he or was he not coming.

For the first time in the last 4 or 5 years Reverend Jeremiah Wright did not make the trip to Aiken. He was scheduled to be in Aiken Monday through Wednesday to take part in a revival at 2nd Baptist Church.

Cars lined the streets for the annual ceremony. This year's speaker was Dr. Ronald D. Barton from Greenville, South Carolina. Right off the bat he said..."I am not Jeremiah Wright, but I can always say I stood in for him." Wrights secretary at Chicago's Trinity Church tells News 12 the reverend is on sabbatical. We understand Second Baptist got final confirmation from Wrights office last Friday.

And so the service goes on. Pastor Barton says the revival isn't as much about personalities as it about God.

People have a right to know what is going on but some things are better left alone. A 5 year tradition at the church is demolished because of the media. Some people just want to hear a good message coming from a good man.
