COLUMBIA, S.C.---South Carolina lawmakers are trying to do something about copper thieves.

Under a proposal heading to the Senate, people selling scrap copper would have to show a photo ID.

The bill makes theft of copper, aluminum and stainless steel beer kegs a felony, with up to ten years behind bars for a conviction.

The bill also says scrap dealers must make photocopies of a seller's I-D.
