Local woman calls Find Me a Job, gets hired
The best part of News 12's Find Me a Job phone bank is that we're able to help the people who call in. That's true for one woman who picked up the phone the last time around.

AUGUSTA---News 12 ran our second Find Me a Job phone bank from 8am until 6:30pm today. The best part is that we're able to give the people who call in some real help. That's true for one woman who picked up the phone the last time around.

Tammy Knight doesn't mind coming to work on her day off. That's because a few weeks ago, she didn't have a job.

"I went to Marshall's, Target, Walmart, Publix," she said. "I didn't have money to pay for my car and stuff like that."

Out of work for about a year, her time has mostly been spent at home. But four words gave her a chance for a new start: Find Me a Job.

Tammy called our experts at the Find Me a Job phone bank last month. They told her about an opening at Academy Sports and Outdoors. She applied. Just one day later--

"When they called and they said 'Would you like to come in for an interview?' I said, 'Yes,' they said, 'What time?' They said, '10 o'clock,' I said I'd be there."

Now, she can't stop smiling.

"I love being back out working. It's better than sitting at home," she said. "I've got some money coming in, I can do what I want to do now."

She has some advice for others who just want to get back to work. "There are jobs out there, and you can get there if you try. Just keep trying, and you'll find one."
