AIKEN CTY, S.C.---SCE&G is warning customers in Aiken County to be on the lookout for scam artists that are posing as SCE&G employees.

A customer recently called the company to let them know that a group of men in a gray truck came to her home and told her they worked for SCE&G. She says that one man asked her questions while another walked around her property. When they left the woman noticed that her wallet, cash, and checks were missing from her pocketbook.

SCE&G says that the company usually calls a customer before an employee comes to their home to do any work. If an employee does show up unannounced the company is asking that you call customer service at 1-800-251-7234 for verification.
