AUGUSTA--Teachers not getting paid and students not receiving financial aid, we first told you that was going on at Savannah River College a few weeks ago. At the time we were told that would change quickly. But now, students tell us nothing is different.
Savannah River College is a small business college located near Washington Road and I-20.
It's also a small business college that's having financial difficulties.
In several confidential memos sent to "12 On Your Side", President Darryl Kerr acknowledged that teachers hadn't been getting paid and said "the well is dry."
He spoke to 12 On Your Side then telling us this wasn't as a big of a deal as it is being made out to be.
"It's a temporary thing. We are hoping to have it resolved in a week to 10 days." President Kerry told us back in August 27.
The money was supposed to come from federal student aid that had not been received. Why it hasn't come in is a mystery right now.
3 weeks after the first story aired, we returned to campus only to have students give similar stories.
Have you gotten your money yet?" we asked student Stacy Hutto.
She replied "No. They haven't told any of the students anything about their money."
So we went to President Darryl Kerr to ask him what is going on. He refused to answer our question on camera saying he'd only respond via email.
So that's just what we did. We wrote him an email asking for an update on the financial standing of the school. Specifically if the federal funds had been received.
We got no reply.
We have contacted the Federal Department of Education about the missing federal funds. But we were told an open program review is being conducted on the school and because of that there is no comment available.
