Thousands of drivers clog up the Lewiston Road area every day and News 12 takes a look at what's being done.

A 65-year-old white male apparently had a heart attack when he was backing out of the parking lot at Circle K, hitting Aamco Transmissions on Washington Road.

The westbound ramp at Mike Padgett Highway was closed down for several hours while crews cleaned up the mess but has since been reopened. The driver was rushed to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Deputies were called out to an accident on Mike Padgett Highway and Clark Road just before 3 a.m.

The moped driver was taken to GHSU in serious condition. The other driver fled the scene. Officers say the vehicle has since been found and the suspect is in custody.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol website reports a person is laying in the road.

Work is scheduled between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday on the ramp connecting Washington Road and I-20.

South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers are on the scene investigating. They have shut down one westbound lane between mile markers 16 and 18 along I-20.

On Thursday morning three lanes were closed on Gordon Highway at Skyview Drive. Traffic was down to one lane, making for a slow drive to work.

Drivers in the area could see additional traffic along I-20 eastbound, on the Bobby Jones ramps at Gordon Highway and on Kissingbower Road this afternoon.

The passenger in the Subaru, Shem F. Rider, was pronounced dead at GHS Medical Center around 2:55 p.m.

The driver was going north on Johnston Highway when he hit a ravine, went flying through the air and hit a tree before landing in a ditch.
