AIKEN, S.C. -- Work began on Monday to replace the bridge on Laurens Street in Aiken.
A construction fence has been installed on the north side of the bridge, stretching from the driveway of Christ Central to the center median.
The southbound lane of Laurens Street from the half block from the Christ Central Driveway to the median cut-through at Hoods Lane will be a two-way street as construction continues.
Construction is expected to last five months.
