BURKE COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW) -- A Burke County judge sentences man convicted of homicide by vehicle in the first degree a total of 24 months.
According to court documents, Brandon Nunnally will serve the sentence on probation and not in jail as long as he follows the rules imposed by the judge. If Nunnally violates probation, he will be sentence to jail.
Nunnally is sentenced 12 months for homicide by vehicle in the first degree and another 12 months for improper lane change.
Nunnally was found at fault in a 2013 accident that killed 56-year-old Paul E. Jackson of Evans.
BURKE COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW) -- A man has died after a two-vehicle accident in Burke County Thursday morning.
Officials say a Cadillac Catera was driving northbound on River Road when it crossed the center line and hit a Honda Accord head on around 7:34 a.m.
Both drivers were taken to the hospital.
The driver of the Accord, 56-yar-old Paul E. Jackson of Evans, died at the hospital. The Burke County coroner says Jackson died of shock from blood loss while in surgery.
The coroner says Jackson worked at Plant Vogtle and was on his way to work when he was hit.
Officials say 25-year-old Brandon Deshaun Nunnally of Hephzibah was driving the Cadillac. Nunnally is in fair condition.
No charges have been filed at this time, but the crash remains under investigation.
