UPDATE: Pedestrian identified in fatal Aiken Co. accident

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. -- The pedestrian who died in an early-morning accident on Bettis Academy Road has been identified.
Aiken County Corner Tim Carlton has confirmed 51-year-old Gary Gregory died from multiple body trauma at the hospital at 10:08 a.m. Thursday.
Witnesses say Gregory was walking north on Bettis Academy Road when he tried to cross over to Whaley Pond Road, stepping in front of a car around 6:15 a.m.
The driver and passenger in the vehicle were not injured.
Weather may have been a factor in the accident. A toxicology report for Gregory is pending.
