AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW)-- The Moped driver involved in the hit and run has died.

Coroner Tim Carlton confirms Beech Island man Robert Brooks, 48, was helping a fellow motorist who had run out of gas by transporting her to a gas station when he was hit.

Officers say 32-year-old Katherine Bentley was riding with Brooks when the Moped he was driving was struck by another vehicle from behind.

Investigators say Sandra Huntington, 39, was driving the 2011 Kia Sportage that hit them that night.

Both vehicles were traveling south on Pine Log Road toward Beech Island around 12:30 a.m. when the accident happened.

Huntington was arrested at 2:45 p.m. at her home, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol. She's been charged with 2 counts of leaving the scene.

Neither Brooks nor Bentley were wearing helmets according to SCHP. Both were transported to the hospital that night. Bentley is currently in "good condition" at GRU.
