AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Some upcoming closures in Richmond and Columbia counties could affect your commute.
In Richmond County, the outside lane of Mike Padgett Highway will be closed between mile markers 10 and 11 while crews do repairs on the shoulder from Tuesday through Friday. This will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The eastbound right lane of Riverwatch Parkway near the Greene Street ramp will be closed on Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The closure will happen while crews replace two sections of the right shoulder guardrail.
The eastbound left lane of Riverwatch Parkway will be closed in the same area on Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. while crews replace the center guardrail.
In Columbia County, temporary road closures are scheduled for Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. due to the Mekenna Project 5K Walk/Run. This will prevent traffic from going through Bedford Drive, Bettys Branch Way, Brandermill Road, Country Place Lane and Graystone Way. Drivers will not be able to go between Gibbs Road and Washington Road using subdivision roads.
Drivers will not be able to access Parliament Road from Furys Ferry Road starting Monday, which will remain closed for 120 days. The closure is scheduled so crews can make upgrades on water infrastructure. To enter the West Hamptom or Watervale subdivisions, drivers will need to use Marlboro Street and Westhampton Drive or Vaughn Road.
