AIKEN, S.C. -- It's been almost a week since the deadline and crews still have not finished the work on Laurens Street bridge in Aiken.
Crews were supposed to be finished last Friday, but the Department of Transportation says a problem with the foundation held up work on the bridge.
We are told rain is complicating the completion and the guardrails are still not finished. They say the bridge should be opened by Friday.
Because of the missed deadline, the DOT will have to pay 20 percent of the total amount to finish it up.
This all came about after deep cracks started to show in the bridge back in April.
