Thursday, March 29, 2012

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. -- A North Augusta woman was killed Wednesday night after she was struck by her own vehicle.

Margaret E. Phillips, 83, was seen checking her mail near the mailbox at around 6 p.m. When a neighbor spotted her vehicle in the front yard at around 6:45 p.m., they called 911. She was taken to a local hospital where she died from multiple body trauma.

Investigators believe the vehicle, a 2006 Lincoln Town Car, rolled down the steep driveway and struck Ms. Phillips as she was checking the mail. The accident is still under investigation at this time.
