AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- Seventeen wrecks on eastbound and westbound I-20 at the state line backed up traffic on Sunday.

Judd Jones of the South Carolina Highway Patrol said there were 17 wrecks between mile marker 1 and mile marker 6 in South Carolina.

Only one person had minor injuries and was transported to the hospital, Judd said. He said most were rear-end type wrecks.

The SCHP blames the rainy weather on the crashes and says it was a domino affect.

Deputies shut down the on-ramp to I-20 westbound from Martintown Road for a short period of time.
