ATLANTA (AP) -- The Georgia Department of Transportation has approved $35 million in statewide road and bridge improvement contracts.
The 13 awards approved last week bring Georgia DOT totals for 2011 to 262 new projects begun. The projects are valued in excess of $925 million. The Department also funded more than $61million in local work for Georgia cities and counties.
The contracts approved last week include an improvement to Interstate 75 on Atlanta's south side. Other projects include: the widening of about two miles of State Route 20 in Bartow County; resurfacing 13 miles of State Roue 38 in Lowndes County; resurfacing 13 miles of State Route 45 Alternate in Calhoun and Clay counties; and resurfacing 21 and a half miles of State Route 17 in Jenkins and Screven counties.
