AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. -- South Carolina Highway Patrol and Aiken County deputies are investigating a fatal accident that killed a pedestrian on Skyland Farm Road outside of Williston.
The call first came in to Aiken County dispatch as a car versus a 4-wheeler around 10 p.m. Monday.
The victim has been identified as 43-year-old Robert Lee Hallinquest. The coroner says Hallinquest was driving an ATV on Skyland Farm Road when he was ejected and then run over by another car.
The coroner says Hallinquest was a person of interest in a burglary that happened just before the crash.
Hallinquest's body will be taken for an autopsy. Toxicology is pending.
We're told Leonard Bell was driving his 2005 Chrysler when he struck a pedestrian who was laying in the road. Hallinquest was pronounced dead at the scene.
Bell and his two passengers were not injured.
This is the eighth fatal crash in Aiken County in 2012.
