UPDATE: Traffic moving smoothly after crews clear head-on collision in Aiken

AIKEN, S.C. -- Traffic is no longer backed up after an accident on Hitchcock Parkway at Dibble Road on Wednesday afternoon.

A red car was traveling northbound on the bypass near Hitchcock Parkway when it crossed over the median and hit a gray SUV around 4:20 p.m.

The drivers, both female, were injured. The driver of the red car had to be cut out of her vehicle.

There was a dog in one of the cars. The dog had to be transported to an animal hospital for injuries.

Investigators are still looking into the accident and charges could be coming.
