UPDATE: Rafters rescued on Savannah River

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- Crews were on the I-20 eastbound bridge assisting rafters on the Savannah River Wednesday afternoon.

There is no word how many people were on the raft, but the rescue wrapped up around 5 p.m.

Rescue crews dropped ropes over the side of the bridge to the people on the raft.

Traffic was backed up due to the situation.
